Lasgo’s Evi was on stage at Paal op Stelten 2004. After a great performance of Something, Pray and Surrender, she told us that the new album will be released on September 1st. But it’s not finished yet, that’s probably the reason why Peter and Dave weren’t there.
Zippora was also one of the many dance artists, she performed Lotus Eater, See The Sun and Luminous & Beautiful. She will release another song in a few months. She couldn’t tell us the name of the song yet, but only that it’s a cover of big hit.
Milk Inc. and Sylver were also on stage at Paal. It was a special duo show, but without Wout. Milk Inc. performed Time, Never Again, after these songs, they performed I Don’t Care together with Silvy. It was Silvy’s turn to sing with Why Worry and Living My Life. The last song was Breathe Without You, also together with Silvy.
Other dance artist on stage were Jessy, Orion Too, DHT and Kate Ryan.

ISPA comments on SABAM writ
by wimIn its role as the trade association representing Belgian ISPs (Internet Service Providers), ISPA Belgium wishes to respond following the writ against Tiscali issued by SABAM (the Belgian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers).
In the writ, SABAM makes reference to particular computer programmes that permit the direct exchange of data between Internet users (so called “peer-to-peer” or “P2P” software). (eg. Kazaa)
SABAM argues that through Tiscali’s involvement, the possibility exists to download music and demands that Tiscali do everything necessary both to ensure that it is not possible to download such exchange software and also to prevent the functioning of such services.
ISPA is surprised by the content of the writ, because ISPs’ responsibilities in relation to these matters have been clear for some time, through the law of 11 March 2003 regarding certain legal aspects of the Information Society (“the E-Commerce Law”). In accordance with the terminology of the E-Commerce Law, ISPA believes that ISPs fulfill in these cases all the criteria which would give them immunity as “mere conduits” (namely that they only provide the communications channel and are not actively involved in the communication). Not one single Belgian ISP hosts (i.e. durably stores) a P2P site on its servers, nor any of the material that can be downloaded with this software.
An analogy can be made between what happens on the “information superhighway” (as the Internet is frequently called) and what happens on a real highway: are the builders or administrators of a motorway responsible for illegal activities of road-users?

M.I.K.E. goes digital
by wimAfter a couple of months in consideration, Mike (see also Push) decided to go on Final Scratch for DJing (besides CD/Vinyl).
Mike says “I still believe in vinyl and cd sources, but we have to pay attention to the growth of the digital age. I think the digital revolution has started. Record company’s, majors, independents, artists etc…almost lost the rapidly growing peer to peer and digital-copy-piracy issues… First of all, the main reason is to encourage the people that downloading is fine, as long you pay for it (do it legitimately and respect the artists rights!).
Unlike ITunes, some legal download services like AudioJelly and BeatPort are more specialized in dance/trance/… We’ve also decided to provide, besides our vinyl labels, a new digital label called “SUB SCAN DIGITAL”.
Mike also says it makes it easier to play more unreleased and special material as the music is on his laptop without taking extra physical space.
